Tony Awards Dress Rehearsal
A bunch of my friends got tickets to the Tonys Dress Rehearsal on Sunday morning. It was amazing to sit in Radio City and see all the performers live, see (some of) the presenters, watch stand-ins accept (for this rehearsal only) awards, and listen to Neil Patrick Harris be awesome.
For those of you who watched the Tonys last night, the closing number you saw was almost entirely the same as the one we saw (except for that ending bit about curtain calls and balls, which was instead something about twittering his jokes). Yes, that’s right, we were told who was winning for real hours before the show. Sure, NPH tempered that with “for this rehearsal only” but any of us with an IQ over 70 could figure out what was going on. I’m glad nothing was ruined because of it but I still find it memorable and hilarious. Yay for awards shows!
